Was inspired by Jesvs's set up. Made sure this one was long enough for swords and knives alike.

*Hull is from a water heater. Gutted, and stripped of its foam insulation from its life as a water heater.

*Rack hooks are 3/8" 304 SS

*Spiral rack is .1875" 304 SS

*1" 2300F Kaowool @aprx. 28sq. ft, which includes the back end and the door.

Upon inspection I noticed the kaowool was wanting to sag at the seam (the top), so I improvised and took some 2400F ceramic board I get locally for free, and slotted it to fit with the hooks. From there I welded a stainless washer on each to hold it up. This mashed the seam and now everything is tight.

I made the hinge for the door with some more 3/8" stainless I had lying around. This allows the door to come out and swing back. Mulled over latching mechanisms until an idea lit up just a short while ago. Will post that later. Still need to make small sliding door on the big door, and decided where to insert my burner.

Nice job, Daniel. If you would have put the seam at the bottom, it would had stay in place by itself. Just like an architectural arch.

You might need to rethink the spiral hanger, it will droop after a few heats.

Thanks Jesvs. With the hangers I was a little leary with getting the holes to match if I had it reversed. Next time I will take the time for this however. First time messing with kaowool. Always been a solid fuel guy. Treated it like gold given the cost. Should have posted progress here first. No one else has pointed this out, as I was unsure how any of this would hold itself up by itself at this diameter. Ah well.

I am in hopes that the 3 hangers will hold it (spiral rack) up enough. If not I have some more 3/8 ss rod I am ready to weld to it with ss weld.

You could just turn your hooks to fit a 1/4x1 or so piece of barstock, then hang your spiral from that. That way you have support on each loop.

We shall see. I wont be heart broken if I can't use it. Was only going for simplicity when I made it.

Got the locking mechanism (3 of them - Makes a tight, sealed, even fit) for the big door made and welded up. Pretty much ran out of the 3/8" stainless I had lying around after making that. The bolts are 1/2" ss as well.

Burner is in and assembled to the oven! It took like 8 minutes from the time I turned it on to estimated 1500F or non-magnetic to a 2ft piece of 1/2" rebar from end to end (First pic is after I shut the burner down. For some reason the forum got my pics out of order). Only thing left to do is make a stand, make an inset for my thermo, and make a new rack to rest blades on with some rebar.

Btw, crappy welds. I'm not a welder. I just own one, lol.
