Here is the latest everyone. It's a gift for a family member. Hope you like it, and please let me know what you think.

 

Steel is Aldo's W2(which I really like) with a wrought iron guard, some copper and Honduran Rosewood for the handle. After etching the wrought, I used a little cold blue to bring out the contrast, which seems to have worked pretty well. The copper was textured and then given a quick and dirty patina with liver of sulfur.

 

Blade is 8.75" (22.2 cm) long and the OAL is just under 13.75" (35 cm).

I like it. The copper is a nice touch. I love copper. Looks like a good hamon, too.

Thanks everyone! I am happy with it but the real trick is to make sure my cousin is happy with it.

Very nice Wes! the combination of materials and textures is very cool. Are you going to Dave's swap meet saturday? The plan is I'll be there with some wagon tire wrought iron and some other misc stuff. I'd like to meet you and pick your brain on your W2 heat treat processes.

Man, I wish I was going to be there. I am actually flying to Vegas tomorrow so me and missus can renew our wedding vows so I am going to miss it. I was planning on going u til I saw the dates conflicted.
