Been a while since posting. Kitchen knife.

Recommended Posts

This is a 6" kitchen blade with a 2 3/8" heel.
This was asked for by the customer and actually feels pretty good.
The handle is ebony, snakewood and G10
The steel is 1075

Very interesting design, I can see where a blade of that width would be quite useful for some things, and I like the amount of curve the edge has, also useful. Beautiful hamon....

JJ - always a pleasure to see you here. Yes, interesting design, and beautiful hamon. I just love that 1075. How thick is it? I imagine quite thin, but I am trying to associate that with numbers.

neat little handle swell, too.

Nice! Did you do anything special during the heat treat to keep it from warping?

The blade had a small warp on the edge that had to be straightened and partially ground out.
Quenching at the low end of the solution range helps.
I just quenched a damascus one that is much thinner than this and it was pulled from the kiln at 1478 and quenched in 11 second oil.
and it had a slight bend which was easily corrected after temper.
