Eddie Eggleston
This is my first farriers rasp knife. And first knife in about a year. Been busy doing leather work. Turned out descent. Its tough, I do know that. whacked a 2x4 in half and it still shaves. I am happy with how it turned out. I will post another pic tomorrow with its new owner. Handle is desert ironwood. mosaic pins. Hand tooled sheath by me. Thanks for looking. Eddie
Don Abbott
Very slick. That wood is beautiful. How did you heat-treat the rasp?

Eddie Eggleston
Very slick. That wood is beautiful. How did you heat-treat the rasp? Sorry Don, didn't see question a first. I heated to critical 3x after forging, then quenched in oil mixture, I tempered at 400 until color was an almond color. Actually it darkened to blue in a couple small areas. No consistency where it turned blue. Maybe a 15% area of the entire blade that turned. The wood is beautiful. Rough on belts though. Ha. Thanks!
