Geoff Keyes
I've been lobbied for an open forge/meet-n-greet for forumites (and some others) at my place some time in January. So this is an open call to anyone in the local area (or non local if you'd like to travel) who would like to come. I'm thinking a Saturday or Sunday, which means 2/3, 9/10, 16/17, 23/24, or 30/31. Probably the 2/3 is going to hard for folks, but any of those are fine by me. Potluck, we can fire up the grill, so if people want burgers or dogs we can do that. We'll probably do a big pot of chilli, bring what you like to drink. I'll clear some space for show and tell and set up some tables/ We'll light the fires and bang some steel. If I can make it work, I'll try to get a friend in to do a small smelt. Lets try and get a date before Christmas, and we'll see you there. Wes Detrick
I am good for anything other than 2/3 since I will have out of town family at my house at that time. Otherwise, I will be there. I chose 16/17 since it's right in the middle. “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer." -Albert Camus http://www.krakenforge.net/
Bret
I wont vote, cause I'm not sure I would make it but I would love to come check it out whenever you set it up for. I've been out of the forge for a couple years now, and maybe seeing some others will kick start my muse again.
Wes Detrick
Bueller? I think it would be a good thing to be able to meet more smiths in the area, and get to talk shop. “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer." -Albert Camus http://www.krakenforge.net/
Chris Roberts
No opinion on the date but I'd love to come over if time and pass conditions allow, it's only a 4-5 hour drive Chris

Geoff Keyes
I think I'm going to have to cancel. I've hurt my shoulder (hammer hand) and the doc says no lifting until after the MRI, about a month out right now. I'll keep folks posted as see if we can't put something together later in the year, but not too much later. Geoff "The worst day smithing is better than the best day working for someone else." Wes Detrick
Damn Well, I hope your shoulder is not bad and the MRI shows clean. “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer." -Albert Camus http://www.krakenforge.net/
Gabriel James
that really blows i did mine in a similar fashion.. i couldn't find my splitting wedges cutting wood so i was taking my splitting maul using the hammer side on top of a crappy axe ONE handed... after a cord or 2 of wood my elbow was like WHOA CHIEF.. and it wasnt the same for about a year Hope yours is something less serious
Bret
I hope you get to feeling better. My shoulders and elbows are part of the reason I haven't been to my forge in a while. Good luck at the doctors, and if you get a clean bill work slowly but work. picking a hammer back up after 2 years is murder.
