Trollslayer

Recommended Posts

Greetings travellers!

AS i am sure you know, the Trolls are coming down from hills and they are posing huge danger. Lots of cattle and even free folk are missing and we know they fell prey to vicious eottins. All this is calling for a travelling Trollslayers. The grim folk, equipped with strange knowledge and stranger weapons of trade. The fight with troll is different to killing wild beast but also to fight with human opponent. So the weapon needs to be huge, heavy, but with accute point. Some preffer huge spears, some strangely shaped axes, but the most revered use what they call KNIFE, a huge sax.

Here is one from the workshops of Owen Bush and mine

The big one, used for slayin is 90 cm long with 59 cm long blade

The blade is 5 bar . wrought at back, with 2 oposed twists made from wrought iron and a low layer 1095 wrought 15n20 mix , there is then a layer of 1050 wollf toothed with the edge 500 layers of the same 1095 wrought 15n20.

part of the set is a mormal sized sax, used traditionaly for harvesting a token of victory, claw, ear or even a head of especialy formidable troll

I crafted fittings and scabbards of a mix of materials, leather, antler, wrought iron, silver, garnets...

here it is for you to wittness glory of almost forgoten craft of trollslaying

Beautiful work guys! Great all-around package.

Owen -- Is that the blade you had with you at Ashokan years ago?

ok, first:

Good to hear from you again, you are missed when you are not around.

second, damn, that is one of the most creative, and one of the most technically-skilled, seaxs (let alone set) that I have ever seen.

You and Owen both shined on these. Really nice collaboration.

Take care.

They are simply gorgeous! This makes me think about that Trolljegeren movie, if it was about these professional hunters living on the tenth century.
I'm in love with the big one.

Oh my Odin. Jeezus that is just WoW! What an incredible piece of work. How long did it take to make all of it? All of it is so epic.

Holy cow! That would send the trolls back to their caves to shiver in trepidation lest the troll-hunter come after them!

Beautiful, beautiful work, and an awesome concept.

I feel like I go back in time every time I see your work. It is very easy to imagine a troll getting it's grape split with that massive seax. That is such awesome work Petr.

In that case it's even bigger than it looks! Friend Petr, can we get a shot of you holding it?

That is the most masterful work I have seen in a long time.

Yep, that's the one! Photo rotation is an offline thing. I can get it tomorrow if you don't first.

By the way, did you take up stone carving too? That's a great sculpture in those pictures!
