Gary Mulkey
A while back I made a Bowie inspired by Alfred Hunter and wanted to give it a period correct sheath. Normally when I make a metal tipped sheath, I wrap the wooden core with leather before attaching the nickel silver throat & tip. For this one I wanted to leave the wood exposed so I used some nice walnut burl and inletted a N/S escutchion as well as adding some nickel silver down both sides.. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Gary Edited September 4, 2016 by Gary Mulkey 1 Gary ABS,CKCA,ABKA,KGA

grpaavola
Gary, The way you make Bowies really inspires me, and has dashed the prejudices I have adopted over the years. Thank you for proving my notions wrong over and over again. Gary Mulkey
Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the kind words. I have been bitten with the antique Bowie knife bug ever since first seeing Flaydermann's book and love making the old stuff. Trying to reproduce the knives of the old masters has forced me to learn some new skills that aren't often used on modern knives and it's given me a whole new admiration for the makers of years ago.
