Timothy Artymko 39
What do you feels forum members think of doing a small knife exchange. I know most of us have zero extra time, so I am thinking the knife would be a neck knife kind of size in whatever style normally make them. And then have the drawing in early December something. kind of late notice, but I personally am totally up to doing this, anyone else?
Austin_Lyles 148
I like the idea. It's basically a KITH (knife in the hat). This forum has done it for the past few years.
Karim 62
Nice xmas bonus, like it.
Timothy Artymko 39
Yeah, and something small that won't take up to much time. And known materials will definitely speed up the process
Wesley Alberson 138
That would be pretty cool! Although does it have to be a knife that goes around the neck, or can it be a tiny belt knife?
Doug Crawford 32
Sounds fun- I'm in Speaking of KITH though, when is the subject for next years knife revealed? Edited October 7, 2016 by Doug Crawford
Wesley Alberson 138
Is it revealed or decided by everyone? I think a few of the suggestions were: Eating set (fork and knife), Friction folder knife, and kitchen knife. It seems like there is a practical/culinary trend to it... Doug Crawford 32
I like the culinary stuff
Timothy Artymko 39
@ Wesley, I said neck knife to designate the general size, but creativity is your limit!
Don Abbott 115
To deviate from the standard KITH, we could do it like this... no sign-up, just an announcement that there will be an exchange on December 1 (or the 7th or the 14th or whatever) Make a necker if you want to participate. On the date, run a list for 24 hours (or 48 hours or a week) and only throw your name in if you have a knife ready to go. Do the swap. Kinda like a Christmas/Hanukkah/Winter Solstice/{insert your own} party.
Connor J. Myers-Norton 19
Cool! I just made up a design for a small neck/boot knife and have a small chunk of Damascus to make it
Christopher Price 22
Sounds like a good idea to me.

grpaavola 30
So... would a blacksmith knife work? -Gabriel
Francesco Muci 16
So... would a blacksmith knife work? -Gabriel Since I don't have much shop time until the next year and have orders to fill, I would be oriented on the blacksmith knife as well. Since Timothy said, early on, "creativity is your limit"... I'll hold on to that. Also, for the next KITH I would be very happy if it could be an axe... I make kitchen stuff quite consistently, so it would be a nice digression... I am in, if the deadline is atound the 10th, the 14th I will visit my family in Italy and I won't be able to ship the knife... Pieter-Paul Derks 210
How did I miss this? This looks like fun, I can make some time to put together a small knife. So Count me in for a neck knife. I might have some nice Damascus leftovers to play with.
Wesley Alberson 138
Cool! Having the deadline on December 1st should be plenty of time. I can post a thread 2 weeks before so people can post pictures of the knives that they completed. Is that okay?
Alan Longmire 2,731
Whatever you guys want to do! Want me to pin this?
Timothy Artymko 39
Sure! I think a good date to submit a piece would be in the realm of December 10th.
Francesco Muci 16
Yes, that would work perfectly for me too. I always need a couple more weeks...
Joshua States 1,720
Whatever you guys want to do! Want me to pin this? Pin it in the KITH thread as CKITH 2016?
Alan Longmire 2,731
Not a bad idea.
Francesco Muci 16
So how about the theme being "something small" like 2" blade or so? I love making small knives, miniatures and folders... anyone have any other idea or any twist to include?
Wesley Alberson 138
I don't think that something like this should have a twist to it, just a small fixed blade knife that is about 2 inches and a sheath if the maker has the time. It could be anything from a wide skinner to a narrow utility knife. Use materials that you are comfortable with, or you can use this as an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone. Wesley Alberson 138
Maybe it could be called "Secret Slicer" like secret santa, or maybe.... Crithmith??
