Don't have long thin/sharp objects sticking out of boxes

Recommended Posts

One of those lessons learned today which in retrospect make you go "Duh!": don't have swords, other thin/long pieces of metal or other material sticking out of boxes. I bend down and caught the tip of a bronze sword with my eye lid. I cut my eye lid, and bruised my eye, but it could have been a lot worse. 5mm higher, and it would have impacted my eye directly. The sword wasn't sharp, but that doesn't matter. I didn't see it as I bend down. So that was a quick trip to the hospital to have my eye checked out.

I second this last comment. And bundle long and thin objects to put them away, it makes them less dangerous. I used to work in a glass fabrication plant and we always taped rugs at the end of pieces sticking out from carts and racks, even just so you can notice them better. Well, that got suck to my habits ultimately.

Rest up and heal fast, eyes are precious...
