There are a lot of nice subtle details going on in that knife that I like.

 

I love that color on the maple. Would you mind sharing what color/dye you used?

Brian, I would if I could but it was a piece of stabilized wood that I bought.

Most excellent Cal. Everything about it is great. If you don't mind me asking, how are you doing the plunges? Are they done on the edge of a wheel?

Wes i rough grind all my blades on a 2x72 staying away from that area of the blade.

I have a 8 inch lap wheel and start with 120 grit and go down to 400, that is what gives the curved plunge lines plus it gives you a perfectly flat blade

that is nearly impossible to obtain with a belt.

Oh I know all about the troubles of getting things flat on a 2x72. I have seen lots of makers use a dish grinder to get their blades completely flat, so it seems as though it is pretty much the same thing, but using lapping wheel. Thanks for letting me know!
