Sgian Dubh

Hi all,

here i a make a Sgian Dubh for a swiss piper band member.

 

Blade from damascus ( to hard ) 1095 / 15N20. 100mm long, 28mm high and 4.5mm thick.

 

Tropical woodhandle. I not remember the name. 100mm long.

 

Stainless steel fittings. Made from finger rings.

the blade steel is nice, and the copper alloy pieces are good. The wood could be lighter portions of blackwood? I am not sure, though. It looks like it will polish well, and be attractive, though.

This will be fun to watch.

the fittings are from stainless steel.

The wood looks like Cocobolo to me. Does it have a feeling like it is already waxed?

Nice looking blade and fittings. I really like the knot work.

the front and back piece is glued. I want to finish the handle before i glue the blade.

Hi,

the Knife and sheath are finished.

The customer ( a member of a swiss piperband ) sticks the knife in his sock if he dress the scottish clothes.
