Maciej, that is an elegant weapon if I´ve ever seen one! Cool!
The fittings look cool too! I have a question - what is the reason for casting the "clamp" fitting? Is it easier than making a die and pressing it? Never did that type, so that´s why I´m asking :)

Thanks!

Finally i want to make it in bronze, its hard to buy bronze plate. I don't have good experience in bending bronze (crack). Also i think it can deforme when will be bended 90 deg after pressing (stretching etc.).

When you made rubber form next wax models are made in seconds. In 1 cast you can place all.

I think it's good way :D

If i don't forget i will add more pics from casting.

Thanks Maciej. Now I have a new question if you would be so kind. Once you have carved all the bits, how do you make the 'tree' bit in the middle that connects them together for casting? I assume everything we see in the first picture (which I honestly thought was an ornamental tree statue at first) is the shape of the lost wax (?). I would like to try this at some stage but honestly at the moment don't know where to begin. Could you also perhaps recommend any good books on the subject?

Many thanks.

Yea it's lost wax tree i didnt take a photo when it was made of wax.

I carved elements and casted them in silver  (picture on 1 side), using castaldo rubber I made mold to wax injection.

Here is movie how it looks and what is next:

Im using centrifugal casting machine like this:

Don't know good books but everything you can find on youtube.

Buy jewelry wax and practice carving it will be perfect at the beginning.

Oh, yes indeed!

Did we already grant you the Fiery Beard?  I don't remember, and if we have not, I nominate you for this piece!

In that case, I hereby nominate you!  Do I hear a second from any other bearded brethren?

So seconded, the motion proceeds.  Maciej, by the lack of power not vested in me, I hereby confer upon you membership in the Disreputable Order of the Fiery Beards!  Feel free to add flames to your avatar, or send me a picture and I can do it.  Badly, but still...  B)  Congratulations!
