Re-Purposing an Antique

I found this antique online a while back and knew immediately how I would re-purpose it.  It was designed to be a drill held in a post vise.  With an extension and a spring loaded square socket on each end it will soon be my new Damascus twisting jig.

Until now I haven't done many twist patterns as all that I had to do them with was a pipe wrench.  (grin) Hopefully this  will make it much easier.

Sorry that I'm so  slow in responding but yes, I've used the re-purposed drill to make a Merovingian Damascus billet:
