Titanium Ore

Recommended Posts

On my last towboat trip, we moved a barge with 2,500 tons of titanium ore. We picked up the empty barge on the way back down the river and there was some left spilled out on the deck, so I grabbed some of it. Refining looks pretty complicated so that's out of the question- I was thinking of mixing up some with resin and molding it for handle scales. Any other ideas of what it might be used for? The stuff is quite a bit more shiny than the picture shows.

Here's a better photo of one of the larger bits- I'm thinking it's one step past ore, in the "sponge" form

I think so as well.  Interesting texture!

Possibly also taking some of the nicer chunks and setting them in resin and treating it like a gemstone in a setting (pommel cap, scabbard accent, etc.).
