That's a beauty, Gary!  The perfect piece of ironwood for that blade, too.

I got the inspiration for this pattern from Jean-louis Regel who calls it his spider pattern.

I've also got a couple of mosaic Damascus blades waiting to be H/T'ed that I roughed out the guards for this morning.  The one with the Spanish notch will get a New Orleans,  F.C. Goergen style hilt and a ball-tip guard.  The other I'm still debating on but I'm considering doing a Peter Rose style handle with a half-penny guard on it.

Yep.  Even when you know how it was done, that just makes it better!

That one is probably my favorite of your work so far Gary. Flawless pattern work, even if it didn't duplicate JL's pattern. Love that long clip with the subtle curve. Just a great all around  project.

Beautiful Gary!  There isn't anything about it that I don't love.  That steel does go with that ironwood like Alan said!

Wow! Really nice, Gary! Love the shape of the buttcap and how it accents the guard. Really nice mosaic pattern. Hard to pull those off with class. You nailed it.

Gotta love a really good piece of ironwood, too.

Very well executed piece.

Well for my 2 cents, I can't make up my mind what I like best, or which is most imppresive so I just have to like it all ! LOL   You get Credit for a great Job on that Damascus pattern, an  we'll  just have to give the Lord credit for the pattern in that Iron wood... they're both beautiful  ! It looks like a lovely marriage! A scabbard or presentation case  of the same Iron wood with maybe  some silver inlay or pearl inlay  accents  would really go good  too !
