Red coral broken back seax

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

here my newest seax for a customer.

Blade from Ondrej,  wrought iron and ? . 180mm long, 28mm high by the handle and 5mm thick.

Handle from stabilized red coral, bone and brass.

The customer wanted a turned one ( viking sign for lake ) on the blade. The sheath he make him self.

How was it working the coral?  I have done a little with red coral and found it rather brittle and extremely messy when ground.  But mine was not stabilized.

Holy bat stuff Batman, that is awesome. I love this shot of the red coral!

If you let your imagination run it kind of looks like a dancing man coming down the handle!! The image seems to form in front of your eyes. Third from last he is doing a hand stand, the second from the last he lands back on his feet and the last image the he is going crazy dancing!!

I Absolutely love this one!!

Hi Alan,

the stabilized coral go very easy to grind, drill......The piece was very stable and compact.
