Alex Middleton
I think you have plenty of time. Worst case you can ask for an extension like Jeremy did last year.
Joshua States
Truthfully speaking, as we all know, the "deadline" is more of a guideline. Anyway, @Zeb Camper you were supposed to make a Puukko, not a sword. I think, if you petition the group to extend, you will find enough support. “So I'm lightin' out for the territory, ahead of the scared and the weak and the mean spirited, because Aunt Sally is fixin’ to adopt me and civilize me, and I can't stand it. I've been there before.” The only bad experience is the one from which you learn nothing. Conner Michaux
Is it possible to give ourselves another month or so? I’m most likely not going to be done sep 1st I’m on the other side of the country right now.

Joshua States
I almost mailed you a small chunk of twist, but I had to leave town on very short notice. Glad you could make it! 1 “So I'm lightin' out for the territory, ahead of the scared and the weak and the mean spirited, because Aunt Sally is fixin’ to adopt me and civilize me, and I can't stand it. Zeb Camper
Thanks ya'll! I forged 2 more small blades while tempering that blade with the rest of the 3 bar billet. Waiting on antler now. Edited August 12, 2019 by Zeb Camper

Zeb Camper
More progress. Handle roughed out and added the antler to the back end with an alignment peg made of that old black oak root I found. So it has antler on each end now.
Joshua States
Well now. Zeb Camper
Not sure I can do a high relief carving because I got carried away shaping the handle. What do you guys think? Metal buttcap be a little overkill for this one? I kind of like the look it has now...
Zeb Camper
Idk, is this done? Other than linseed oil?
Conner Michaux
I have no place to judge here, but it looks done to me. Pretty sweet little thang.
Brian Dougherty
I agree that a full butt cap would be too much. If it were me, I would be considering inlaying a small disk in the butt to cover the tennon. Then again, it is late August, and it is certainly good enough. 1 -Brian

Zeb Camper
Thanks ya'll! I asked my little nephew (2) what he thought of it last night. The antler turned a reddish color with the vinegroon. I asked him if it should be white. He said yeah, and wanted to hold the thing. Broke my heart that I had to say no. But isnt that cool? Hes 2 and hardly knows what it is, and all he wanted to do was hold it. That says something. But, the fam thinks it's done, and I guess ya'll agree. I'm scared to mess with it, so sheath time. Hey, Alan, I saw that my post shares the same title as one of yours while I was browsing the other night. I'll change it if you'de like.
