While looking at headhunter blades

Here's the blade that got me started looking.  It's from the northeastern Indian state of Nagaland

Dude looks like no one to mess with; if you are into those kind of blades, check out the one used in the Apocalypse Now scene where the water buffalo is killed.

Very intriguing culturally. I remember when I first learned about anthropologists defining cultural groups by their tools and specifically, the knife designs and forms. I look at that photo and read the Encylopaedia Brittannica entry. As usual, I started to wonder what these "knives" looked like before the introduction of steel and after the intro, what the smiths who made them used  for base supplies and tools.

Hard to say without artifacts, but I'm guessing these folks had iron for a long time.

Lots of heads indeed..But there are some really cool blades.

 

Why are people interested in buying a head dressed up with feathers??
I don't understand the appeal..:huh::P

The designs are similar to some used in South Pacific tattoo designs.
