Knife handle wood choice?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at putting a handle on a big chunky throwing knife. It weighs over a pound, and has a big rustic blade. Can anyone suggest wood (with pictures if possible) that might suit such a mountain man knife please?

Thanks Rich.

Sounds sensible to me. How would you put the leather wraps on, with a glue of some kind glue that would stick to leather and metal both? . Also would you put anything under the leather to balk it out a little.

Thanks kindly for the advice.

Rich.

Most people use copper saddler's rivets for this purpose (leather slabs on throwing knives).  A thick bend of sole leather, two copper rivets, and you're ready to throw.
