hi,

Recently made axes.

From left copy of battle axe from Podhorce with copper inlays, again Podhorce but without the inlays and Hadeby axe.

Podhorce axe head is forged from old iron and steel with copper inlays.

Podhorce (in the middle) and Hadeby axe made from high carbon steel.

Thank you

Jacek

I love them!  The copper accents are a nice touch.  Are they on the original?

Yes the Podhorce axe with inlays is based on find from 'the great identical grave No. 2', Podhorce, Lvov distr., dated 10th cent.

i have attached picture of the original find.

Thank you

The Hadeby axe was also based on original find from Hadeby, Denmark - Viking era.

Good work,Jacek,i really like the metal itself on Podhorce copy, and how you brought out the structure in it...Beautiful!

Have you undercut the edges on those inlays,or just swaged them in?

The inlays are tapped in V shaped groove.

Just saw these. What a great set of axes! There seems to be a resurgence of axe-making going on around here. Hmmm.....time to join the fray I guess.

Don't know how I missed this one - all are great but I really like the one with the copper inlay!  Well done!
