Very good for a first knife.  I'll admit that I didn't do anywhere near that with my first one.  Using a piece of leaf spring I imagine that it was thicker than 1/4".  You might try to forge out your next blank to about 3/16" before profiling the blade.  You could also try forging in your primary bevels up to the spine of the blade.  Forging the tang down will also help make the handle less bulky.  Keep at it.  You show talent.

Thanks for the tips and kind words Doug. I have to admit that I made a chefs knife in a class a few months ago but this was my first venture on my own with my own tools. Read a lot of the WIP s on this forum helped a lot.
