Sutton Hoo Sword

This from Peter Johnnson. He shared this on FB and I thought there might just be a little interest in this Vid. I had no idea how well preserved some of this is.

“So I'm lightin' out for the territory, ahead of the scared and the weak and the mean spirited, because Aunt Sally is fixin’ to adopt me and civilize me, and I can't stand it. I've been there before.”

The only bad experience is the one from which you learn nothing.

I happened to run into that on YouTube the other day.  It's well worth the watching.  She did a presentation on her favorite Anglo Saxon sword but I'm going to have to look it back up to watch it.  Too sleepy.

Very cool!

And yes, the gold and garnet work from Sutton Hoo looks brand new.  Except for that wear on the pommel, which I had never noticed, darn it.  I think I'll have to keep an eye on that channel...

Quite true, Alan.  I also like how they used the wear pattern on the pummel to estimate that the owner of the sword was left handed.
