Mick Maxen
A recent piece of work. A pattern welded tomahawk with a 5 bar construction with each bar having 14 layers. The cutting edge is approx 500 layers. The edge is 2 1/4" and the head is 6" long. Edited August 10, 2019 by Mick Maxen

Mick Maxen
Cheers Alan. A different way of putting a makers mark in the work. The curly maple handle is one you gave me at Owen's a few years back.

James Higson
Very cool! Is that an inlay of maxen canister weld?
Mick Maxen
Alan, I have run out of handles now and will need some more. James, the name is an inlay all the way through but has not been made by the canister/powder method. Just flat pieces of steel that we all use.
Kevin Colwell
that is a thing of beauty. I haven't seen anything that cool in some time. Awesome job! please visit my website http://www.professorsforge.com/ “Years ago I recognized my kinship with all living things, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on the earth. What sizes did you start out with for your mark? Does it read backwards on the other side? Joshua States
That is very cool Mick and I'm seriously digging the Maker's Mark. Alan, I seem to remember you posting a link to those handles, but I cannot locate it again. “So I'm lightin' out for the territory, ahead of the scared and the weak and the mean spirited, because Aunt Sally is fixin’ to adopt me and civilize me, and I can't stand it. Wes Detrick
Man, that is fantastic Mick. I love how the cutting edge is a completely different bar. And that handle is stunning. “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer." -Albert Camus http://www.krakenforge.net/

That is one of their WD-1 handles, medium grade.
