The pointy moss does work better. B)  I just hope whoever buys it understands just how finicky the process of making it was!

I've taken a brief sabbatical from this one in order to restock my supply of hunters for my show case.  As I finished the last of them today, it's time to do some more Bowie work.

 

I got the remainder of the hilt components roughed  out tonight in order to have something to work on in my pubic shop tomorrow.  The inner piece of the butt cap (416) once profiled will get file worked to match the guard.  The outer piece is of some antique bridge hardware (wrought iron) and will get thinned, ground convex, polished & hot blued.

With a few more coats of finish to the oak burl and a final polish to the handle  fittings, I should be ready for final glue up:
