Conner Michaux
Should we make a poll? My vote will go to a hatchet, though it won’t be longer then 12” because I can only afford so much steel..
Dan Hertzson
I'm definitely in for a hatchet/hand axe, though not a great fan of integrals. I've never done a double bit one. Might try a small Nessimuk.
Robert D.
I would be down for a tool KITH, Either leatherworking or other type of tooling. But the Idea of a Dual Collab is just friggin awesome. Say set a deadline of May to have the blades complete, Do a drawing and blades get shipped to each other and then keep the August deadline for handle completion. I suspect we would see a LOT of very interesting combinations. http://robertjamescustoms.tumblr.com/
Emiliano Carrillo
I think the theme should be seasons. Pick a season you identify with or like the most, and create something that thrives in that element. For instance I am partial to Winter and would make something severe and cold. Perhaps a spring theme could be that of renewed life and warmth, and fall decay and darkening, and summer warmth and sun. I think it could be a great exercise to create something thematic that doesn't necessarily have to relate back to mythology or history, but can be influenced by them all the same.
Gary LT
Small hand axe / hatchet sounds interesting. Quite a number of folks are showing their progress in forging. I for one haven’t done one, so I am up to the challenge, whether it’s a one piece integral or punched eye. (and I have no tools for punching). Something small enough to load in a back pack or belt carry. Useful tool for sure. Doesn’t have to be Damascus either. Robert D.
Hatchet / Axe would be fun as well, I could get on that bandwagon. It will be about a month till I get my shop back online, Just moved homes and need to clear my garage out of all the packed boxes currently living there. But on a positive note I now have a fellow bladesmith within drunk stumble distance of me. 1 http://robertjamescustoms.tumblr.com/
Jonathanbradshaw
I enjoy forging axes. And I recently purchased a new drift that I haven’t had the chance to use yet.
Faye
I like the collaboration idea, it would definitely be different. However, an axe is on my list of things I want to try, so that would also be fun. That's my two cents worth.
Conner Michaux
Should we make a poll with A leather tool, collaboration blade, and a hatchet/small axe? Those seem to be the most popular ideas. EDIT: I can start it if needed, just want make sure I’ve got permission.
