Have you ever used your gear to vacuum dry wood? I first heard about it in the mid/late '70s. It's supposed to dry with less checking and less wood movement. However, I never investigated further because at that time the equipment I saw was room size or larger, but it does seem that it might be a good way to dry handle sized hunks of wood.

no because it would of necessity suck the moisture into the vacuum pump which is not a good thing. Even supposedly dry wood can contaminate the oil with the moisture necesitating a change of oil. I have heard of using a break jar in the middle of the line but have not personally known it to work.
