Kevin Jeffcoat
I have read both your building instructions. I appreciate the information, it’s really good content. I’ll be running a “Frosty-T” style burner that I’ve already built. I’ve been debating cutting an opening in the back of the bottle. After all the forums I’ve gone through i decided to put one in just in case.
Kevin Jeffcoat
Day 3 progress. Cut the face off. Found my jig saw did a much cleaner job than the angle grinder. Forge is stuffed with 2” ceramic insulation. Welded the face back on. Welded the base on.

This is important when thermalcycling and quenching. Oh yeah....nice vice!!! Edited April 24, 2020 by Jeremy Blohm
Kevin Jeffcoat
Day 4. Fired up the burner for the first time after adding the air chokes. Not sure if I’ll have much use for them but I wanted to add them in the event that I needed the ability to fine tune the air flow. Kevin Jeffcoat
I installed the table top legs today. The finished product will have bolt on leg extensions.
Brian Dougherty
The chokes will be handy. At some point you will probably want to be able to adjust your flame to be neutral or slightly reducing, and you'll be glad you have them -Brian
Kevin Jeffcoat
I got the burner mount fitted, tapped and welded on, the bolt on legs cut to size and drilled(not shown), and 2 layers of high temp paint sprayed on. All that I have left is to cover the ceramic insulation. In a few days I’ll be able to fire it up. I’ll also be adding plate steel on the front and back racks Edited April 30, 2020 by Kevin Jeffcoat Added
Kevin Jeffcoat
And it’s partially completed. Still missing the front and rear plates. I’ll add them eventually. Defiantly glade I added those air chokes. The back one is completely shut and the front one is just cracked open. IMG_3043.MOV
Kevin Jeffcoat
The forge was running for about 2 minutes prior to this. The wrench is about 1/8” thick. I threw it in there just to see how long it would take to heat up. IMG_3060.MP4
