Hello, I'm looking to purchase a new anvil for Knife making and General shop use. I think 125 to 175 lbs will suffice. I seem to like the double horn style anvils and have about $1500 to spend. I need advice/ suggestions on best brand and where to buy? All help is much appreciated.

Holland,  Refflinghaus,  Peddinghaus there is another anvil made in the USA that is 175lbs double horn London pattern.  I can't remember the name but are cast 4140 IIRc.

I own Refflinghaus, Peddinghaus, hay Buddens,  Henry Wright, Amercian..   I like the double horn pattern and really enjoy the Refflinghaus about the best.

TFS makes a really nice Double ender that weighs in at 200# and sells for around  $1,200.  I've used it.  Nice anvil.

You might give Old World Anvils a look-see.  They carry a variety of anvils, plus they can make you a post anvil,  and I know they carry double horn models.

That's a top notch anvil. I would love to have one. Personally I would have already clicked the proceed to checkout button. ;)

I got this one, peddinghaus 165 lbs. I haven't got to use it but for about 10 minutes but it seems to be very good. I appreciate all the advice.
