Well the guy looked a good 180 pounds...I think it could hold up under the drag of a surface grinder!!

I had the same use in mind Chris.  Judging by the leverage he was putting on it at the end of the video, I think it would hold just fine.  That being said, the door lock that you posted would be a whole lot easier, and a bit more appropriate in size too.

Well, it has a 400# pull weight and only cost $90.  I figure I'd have a whole lot more in time trying to put together one from salvaged parts than that.
