After searching here it seems there have been very few sources for bog oak posted in a number of years. When you find it at various supply sites it is either extremely expensive or sold out. Two places however, eBay and Etsy are flooded with quite affordable bog oak or Morta wood, most frequently all from the Ukraine. Has anyone had any experience with these sellers from the Ukraine?

I once got a plank of ukrainian? bog oak of ebay, and I was completely happy with it, apart from a small crack at the end the wood is perfectly usable and nice quality.

The only thing to look out for is to get big enough pieces for knife handles, some of the pieces they sell are quite thin.

I purchased some pieces off of ebay that I suspect are simply modern oak soaked in dye. Beware scammers.

That was one of my worries, the other being Ukrainian companies tearing up stream beds indiscriminately, can't be great for the environment (like fossilized mammoth ivory hunters essentially melting and washing away huge areas in Siberia, can't be good)

David Delagardelle recommended Adamson&Low to me from the UK
They had fast shipping and from what I can tell very affordable prices for product that seems to be legit, and they even include a pamphlet of history/credentials
