value of wrought iron and shear steel

Recommended Posts

Im going through my (is it wrought) pile/horde and it turns out I have a couple hundred lbs of shear steel varying from medium to high carbon.

As Im going to be selling a lot of my stuff for a move I need to know what to price fine and coarse wrought and medium and high carbon shear steel.

That sounds very interesting. No idea of price, but I would be quite interested in some shear steel.

Wrought tends to go for $2-$4/lb, regardless of degree of refinement.  Shear steel comes up so rarely I have no idea, but assuming you didn't make it yourself, probably worth about the same as wrought. The usual form is old buggy springs.

If it's all made by you, that's another story.

What form is it in, and can you guarantee it is shear steel?

I'd have to say I would be interested in some shear steel myself.
