I have a project that surfaced in the disaster that is my bench.  Part of it is a hemp cord wrap on a handle and scabbard.  I'd like to soak the cord in something to reinforce it.  I'm looking for recommendations, glue, varnish, some other thing?

Thanks

Randal Graham always used slow-set epoxy and a hair dryer.  I've never done it, but he said if you keep it hot and rotating it'll soak in and not look like plastic.  I've used superglue, which does end up looking plastic-y.

Ha!  I thought I remembered it.  16 years ago, wow...    Anyway, glad you found it.  Lots of good stuff in that thread.
