Anybody ever used one of these?

This cool little foot pedal operated vise came up for sale a few miles away from me.

 

 

I'm just trying to decide if it has enough potential uses to make it worth anywhere near the $200 the guy is asking.  I can see it being very handy for straightening a blade during forging, but I'm struggling to come up with a whole lot else.  Thoughts?

I can see it for twisting small hooks in a production shop, due to the time saving aspect. Cool tool, but yeah, I don't think I'd spend $200 on it for the cool factor.

That's kind of the way I was leaning.  I can see it having more use for a blacksmith than a bladesmith.  Thanks for the input guys.

Yup, popular among blacksmiths, but I can't see too much use for it in blade work.

That was one of my thoughts, but standing on one foot and not being able to move around, nixed that idea

Do you have to stay on the foot pedal to have it hold or is there a cam locking it in place?
