Lamey
Here is a simple, basic little "Southwest" style Bowie. I guess its a Southwest style, having an arched back and spine... at least thats what I guess they call this style. 7.5" Forged W2 blade, SS gaurd, Koa handle , clay hardened, real nice hamon. Photos dont show but there are "ghost" lines above and below the primary temperline, real neat in person.

Ron Hicks
Real Good Lookin Knife is the Koa wood real hard? what would you compare it to? Ron
Lamey
I would say that the Koa is a bit harder/denser than Walnut. Works a bit easier than "good" Curly Maple. This particular piece has a bit of Curl, but it dont show up in the pics. Koa does darken quickly, so the handle on the above knife will be a few shades darker within a week or 2. Thanks for the compliments, just wish I could capture the "white" on either side of the hamon etc....
Tim Crocker
Nice blade. Good looking temper line too. The koa I have reminds me alot of a good mahogony. Fairly hard, not too heavy and porous. Crocker Knives

Bob Ouellette
Very nice. I have some koa, but I forget where I put it Its a nice wood though. I love that temper line. jdm61
nice knife I have heard koa also referred to as hawaiian mahoghany. As for the W2, nobody seems to have any flat bar. wonder if there might be some drill rod or square bar out there anywhere? How diferent if W1 from W2? http://www.JMForge.com
Lamey
im not sure the difference in W1, ive seen W1 in rounds. I like the Koa wood, wish i had better pics. This was a pretty simple piece of Koa but shows much better than my photo skills indicate. I have since re done this handle a bit, will try and post pics later.
