Damascus san mai hunter in works

The bilet is cut and drawn again. This is not very good method, as it makes for coarse pattern. It will be better to deform the billet by special press tool and then grind the sides off. The pattern stays the same. Final billet is not the smallest thing, It is enough for one more kitchen knife.

The shape is ground. Now for the rest.  Similar method on kitchen knife is the tip picture. I hope for similar pattern.

The etch is just about so so. It was just scotrchbrited. I am sure hand sanding would be better, but the chap has only 200 bucks budget and that would be just about for a plain no damascus no forging knife I think. Its just he is a friend I am doing this. The fasette of the edge will be repolished, the scales pinned and glued and its done. The core is very good material, unfortunatelly I got it with no markings. :(

Nice work Jaro. A little sanding with that 800 grit (or finer) with a stiff backer with just take the high spots down a little and make them shine.

Thanks Joshua, I hope it will and it will not be so dark as a whole.

Odd but good. I like it. With that dark blade it may be more a poacher than a hunter ;)
