So I got a commission outside my normal purview… and it has been a fun challenge. It is an inspired by for Norwich University in Vermont and the Smithsonian affiliated Sullivan Museum just over the mountain. The original saber was owned by the founder, Alden Partridge, and dates circa the Revolutionary War. I was able to document the original, and there are paintings of him with it. They will use the re-envisioned one for various ceremonies. It will be cast in bronze, gold plated and have garnet inset eyes. Wish me luck 7 jloose.com Link to post Share on other sites

Could have lived with it… you never know when you chase them… but luckily, this time, I nailed it. No flaws in the blade now. Feels good. I’ll think on the crossguard, and figure it out moments before falling asleep, when the backbrain likes to fill the rest of us in. The original has a bit of an underbite as he’s missing some lower jaw, where he used to be biting a rather thin guard that broke.
