Joshua States
Yeah, that handle looks great! 1 “So I'm lightin' out for the territory, ahead of the scared and the weak and the mean spirited, because Aunt Sally is fixin’ to adopt me and civilize me, and I can't stand it. I've been there before.” The only bad experience is the one from which you learn nothing. Oberu
Any advice on peening tangs? This is some high vanadium spring steel and even though I thought I'd kept the tang soft it's harder than woodpecker lips. I've got a little acetylene torch I could use to heat it up.. thinking I'd wrap the handle in wet rags and try while it's hot. I've got the handle glued up using some G-flex. Any advise is greatly appreciated!
Alan Longmire
I'd be worried the heat will pop the epoxy. How much tang is there free? Got a buttcap?
Oberu
I managed to pull it off. I used an acetylene torch to gently heat the tang. From there it was all hammering!
Gary LT
I really like the shape of this blade in raw form. The walnut is beautiful and the carving adds the right touch. Very well done so far and should and will finish up with class. Gary LT "I Never Met A Knife I Didn't Like", (Will Rogers)
