A little something...

Recommended Posts

Here's another in-progress update.

Currently spent 103 hours on this frame.

I finished the gold inlay, and currently I am backgrounding the area behind the large "P". I decided to sculpt little "pyramids" instead of simply flattening the background down and stipling it with a pointy graver.. I feel there would be way too much negative space for that. I estimate another 30-40 hours of backgrounding before I can start shading.

Each pyramid is about 2,5 x 2,5 mm.

Chiao! :)

It's been a little while - and I've made some progress on the sheath.. :)

Thought I'd throw in another little sneak preview:

the fact that I sanded off the tips of the little pyramids does annoy me quite a bit. I ought to have lowered the entire background a little before engraving them... Can we call it a.. feature? ... hmm

Anyhow, 13 blue saphires and two red rubies later, here we are...

Pictures aren't as sharp as I'd like, but the knife will be finished in its entirety by the end of the week I hope, so there will be some better ones then. :)

Here's a couple of daylight pictures.. I took these just before I started sewing the frame to the sheath. Will spend the weekend completing the work.

I have to wear gloves when sewing, as the 925 Sterling Silver reacts very poorly with the sulfur in my skin... <_<

Anyhow, I wish you all a wonderful weekend! ^_^

Any error repeated is a feature/pattern
