Some non-sword stuff

Recommended Posts

I've been on a hell of a sword push lately, but my primary work is in small to medium edc type knives and kitchen cutlery. I'll post some of it in this thread.

To kick things off, here is a new pattern of river knife I'm testing out (I'll be doing some guiding this season after a long hiatus).  This one is in 154cm with G10 scales.

I really like that!  do you mind if I ask: Where did you get the patterned Kydex?

H3 Customs, if I recall.

Me too!  The shape looks great.  Is the G10 slick when wet, though?

Not more so than any other material I have tried. Plus the grip shape is designed for a positive grip in less than ideal situations.

Cheers, gents!

The color of that handle will let you know where your knife is if you set it down somewhere.  It looks like it's a workhorse.

For some reason, I cannot see the first photo

Nice work. What steels are you using? Are they all 154CM?

I use a variety. 154 for the stainless outdoor knives, 440c for the stainless kitchen, 1075, 1080, 1095, some D2, 80CRV2, 8670 and SV30.  10xx and 154 are my work horses, though.

Did you buff at all, or is that just off the belt?

Thank you- that's all belts on the grinder. I leave the flats at a lower grit for contrast, then work the bevels up.

I need my new transformer hooked up before I can plug my buffer in (it's 3ph).

I like that. The different finishes on diferent facets/planes always gives the knife more visual appeal.

I agree with Josh about leaving the flats with a slightly courser grind to give contrast.  Much better look than brut de forge.
