Brass import tomahawk mods

I've long been on a search for how to recreate historical brass and dovetail pipe tomahawks as the British imported during the North American fur trade but was never really happy with my personal results. Even worked with a foundry to cast my own, but discovered I can modify the modern imported ones into nice reproductions that have proved popular. WIP of my process on my blog post

Here's a couple pictures, two of mine and one original for comparison. Thanks for looking!

I never heard of them before.  Your two look great, especially to first (or bottom) one.  Thanks for putting up pictures of your work.  BTW, how are the two pieces joined at the dovetail, just friction?

Nice!  I can see it would be hard to compete with the imports and their investment casting process for the brass.  That's one reason I stick with the American gunsmith style of tomahawk, I can't make the English style trade hawks and make any profit, especially since there are good castings of those out there.

I saw one of these on FB. They look great man.

“So I'm lightin' out for the territory, ahead of the scared and the weak and the mean spirited, because Aunt Sally is fixin’ to adopt me and civilize me, and I can't stand it. I've been there before.”

The only bad experience is the one from which you learn nothing.

I have been curious about the brass hawks since I got my first Track of the Wolf/Golden Age/Dixie Gun Works catalogs years ago.

Excellent work.
