Teaser for a new piece

Every so often I get these out of the box ideas, and then I have to go for it. There was no turning back once I drilled the holes in the spine. I either had to make it work, think of something else, or pitch it in the scrap pile. This only took 5 attempts, so I guess that's success. Gold would be a lot easier than brass to upset in the holes. Maybe next time.

I said that.

So, just for the record: the fact that it does work still should not be taken as definitive proof that you are not crazy.

Made some progress today.  Note to self, trying to forge brass is a bad idea.

Yeah it tends to crumble a bit. That's only if you don't melt it first.....

It can be cold forged, but it's less work to just cold bend it.

The only bad experience is the one from which you learn nothing.

Finished, 8 inch bowie with a South West flair.

1080 Blade with brass accents

Patinaed brass S guard

Red Deer crown handle

This thing is a beast, the brass adds weight and the crown is heavy.  The brass blade accents worked pretty well and the whole thing has a kind of South West feel to it,
