A bit off topic, pole arm shafts

I got two long lengths of straight grain ash from a local woodworker, cutoffs from projects of his.  One is 2x2 tapering to 1.5x2 at one end, the other is 2.5x3.5, and they are both about 10 ft long.  Hard, heavy and straight.  I should have poles and shorter pieces for axes and the like for a while.
