“So I'm lightin' out for the territory, ahead of the scared and the weak and the mean spirited, because Aunt Sally is fixin’ to adopt me and civilize me, and I can't stand it. I've been there before.”

The only bad experience is the one from which you learn nothing.

Well deserved Josh! B)

On a side note, sad reminder that several years ago I used to find scanned PDFs of Blade Magazine for download, really enjoyed them, but they dried up.

Congratulations Joshua!

Well, here is mine from 2009, the article started as a handout for a demo at our local blacksmith guild. Here is a copy of the original hand out before my guild buddies encouraged me to submit it to a magazine, https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rtY2DRefdY4WS8oHWtmMWYiPM1-9SaJP0OzEgepyZLA/edit?usp=sharing

Also blown away when a piece of my steel made the cover of Knives 2007 in a dagger made by my friend Stephen Vanderkolff. Kinda neat Larry Harley also had a piece on the same cover, since our shops were around 10 miles apart.

Very nice Matt. Good for you. Would you mind if we put that document in this thread? I think it would make a valuable reference for folks starting out in pattern welding. Besides, it compliments that beautiful mosaic you put in there.

Joshua, you are absolutely welcome to use it anyway you like, I would be honored. But it needs to be cleaned up. I noticed spaces everywhere they don't belong. No idea how that happened. This link seems to be less messy https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0DR5QhiRseTNjRjMTZjNjctZmE3Yy00ZDNhLWJiODMtOWM1OTYxNDQ2ZDA4/view?usp=share_link&resourcekey=0-1C6Nl6qHcOZrPgLX6M1uPg

Here is a link to another handout (for beginners) if someone wants to put it somewhere appropriate. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EY-g2LHluaSqawV9bf1PcbVyQyLY0hdU/view?usp=share_link

Blade magazine August 2005.... Toast Cutter contest

I was a newbie making a few stock removal blades for fur trade era rendezvous and this contest started on Knife Network forum. Thought of a design and entered the contest, story here.. http://www.knifenetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24127

There are still a few photos online of the other pieces made and I don't know if Coop still has the others.
