billyO
Hello all. Some of you may have already seen posts on other forums, but I found out at a small gathering of NWBA members last night that Phillip Baldwin, very talented blacksmith and bladesmith died last week (Wed or Thurs). Too many of you older guys who I learned from are getting too old!!! 2 RIP Bear....be free! as always peace and love billyO
Geoff Keyes
I hadn't heard this, that's very sad. It was one of Phil's knives that made me want to learn about making damascus, in about 1984. I also watched him demo hot forging T6 aluminum into a pry bar at an NWBA event. Fare well, Phil Geoff "The worst day smithing is better than the best day working for someone else." I said that. If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly. - - -G. K. Chesterton So, just for the record: the fact that it does work still should not be taken as definitive proof that you are not crazy. Dick Sexstone
Phil was the first one I saw demo damascus with Dan Maragni……At Peters Valley maybe 79 or 80? I was blown away ….he always raised the bar ….. it’s a punch in the gut when you see contemporaries pass….
