Eric Bohnstedt Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Good evening all, I am currently planning on making a number of wax models for scabbard chapes that I will be sending off for lost wax casting. So far, I have had some success in using Ferris Blue wax, carving two halves and "fusing" them together. But it is definitely NOT my favourite thing to do. Fitting it perfectly to the scabbard tip is time consuming and it is just so annoying when the model breaks. I recently came across this type of red wax that is apparently usable for hand moulding and lost wax casting. https://www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery-Tools/Ferris-Mould-a-wax-Tub-1lb,-Red,---Soft-Grade-prcode-998-356&query=ferris wax&channel=uk I was wondering if any of you great people had ever successfully used something like this?
Eric Estlund Posted May 12 Posted May 12 The base chape is made with a similar soft heat moldable wax. 4 Eric Estlund WinterCutlery.com IG @wintercutlery
