Alan Longmire Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) October 2-4, same place as always. I say tentative because I haven't heard back from Beaumont Metalworks, but it's the usual weekend exactly between Quad State and Blade West, plus the Apple Festival and International Storytelling Festival. Go ahead and mark your calendars! I'll only change it if the KMG folks have another idea. Edit: Andrew just texted and said he's in! October 2-4, if you want anything from KMG email them and Andrew will bring it along to save on shipping. Edited January 20 by Alan Longmire new info
Gary LT Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Hot dog! Thanks Alan. Gary LT "I Never Met A Knife I Didn't Like", (Will Rogers)
Gert Burkhardt Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Dang. I happen to be in Nashville that weekend but already scheduled (and paid) for another event.
Dan Kaschner Posted January 22 Posted January 22 We will be there. Booked at the Carnegie for my wife, brother and his wife. After missing the last two years with health problems we are looking forward to it so much. Dan 1
Brian Dougherty Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Well, I might be back in afterall. I confirmed yesterday that my boss doesn't think I need to hold a special event for homecoming that weekend. Just made my hotel reservations 1 -Brian

I am beginning to wonder if that scheduled software user group meeting in Nashville is really that interesting, paid for or not. Also noticed, I could go to the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention in Athens one or two days before your event. I guess it is not THAT far away. 1
Gert Burkhardt Posted June 20 Posted June 20 I will be there Saturday and Sunday. Flight and hotel booked. Do I have to declare knives in checked luggage?
Gary LT Posted June 20 Posted June 20 No not in your checked luggage. If in your carryon, they’ll confiscate your knife / knives and may call law enforcement. Gary LT "I Never Met A Knife I Didn't Like", (Will Rogers)
Christopher Price Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Damn, I have a long-standing commitment that weekend. I've wanted to come back for a while now. Anything but the first weekend of October and I'm there. The Tidewater Forge Christopher Price, Bladesmith
Alan Longmire Posted June 21 Author Posted June 21 Damn, indeed! I was hoping you'd be able to show up.
Spencer Phillipson Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Had fun last year! Looking forward to this year's.
Alan Longmire Posted September 17 Author Posted September 17 Well, it's coming, like it or not! This year we'll have Clark Ironworks presses and forges, the steel guy from last year, and KMG for sure, don't know about other vendors. As usual, we're woefully unprepared, but somehow it'll all be okay! 2
Gert Burkhardt Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I will fly out tomorrow to Atlanta as starting point for our road trip. Looking forward to be at the hammer-in again. And maybe bring an umbrella and a rain jacket... 1
Spencer Phillipson Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Just a quick question Alan, what time do you think it will start Friday?
Alan Longmire Posted September 29 Author Posted September 29 Friday will start around 10 AM. Saturday and Sunday around 9 AM. We have the big tent, but Iron in the Hat may be in the pavilion this year. We've been lucky so far, but it does look damp Saturday afternoon. 1
Brian Dougherty Posted Thursday at 11:46 AM Posted Thursday at 11:46 AM Woot! I'll be puling out of work about mid-day to start the drive. I should start seeing some hills around 5pm Looking forward to seeing everyone! -Brian
Gary LT Posted Thursday at 01:25 PM Posted Thursday at 01:25 PM (edited) Same here! For the raffle…. Gary LT Edited Thursday at 01:28 PM by Gary LT 1 "I Never Met A Knife I Didn't Like", (Will Rogers)
Alan Longmire Posted Thursday at 09:49 PM Author Posted Thursday at 09:49 PM Porta-potties arrived at 10, the guild moved our equipment and did the setup between 11 and 3, KMG pulled in at 4:30, and Clark Iron is there unloading presses and forges right now. The forecast has improved, the grill is set up, and I am trying to get some rest before it finally starts!
Brian Dougherty Posted Friday at 12:21 AM Posted Friday at 12:21 AM Looks great Gary! I'll probably be there early tomorrow if folks need help schlepping stuff around. -Brian
Gert Burkhardt Posted Friday at 12:37 AM Posted Friday at 12:37 AM As planned, I will be a day late... Hope I am not missing too much Friday. And I believe the Raffle is anyway Saturday?
Alan Longmire Posted Friday at 12:49 AM Author Posted Friday at 12:49 AM Raffle is Saturday. Around 1 PM eastern. It's the usual semi-organized chaos. And unless we have a surprise volunteer, since the passing of Mike Crenshaw there will be no donuts. Mike would love that that's his legacy. Seriously. He will have other words for me when I join him, no doubt.
Gert Burkhardt Posted Friday at 01:03 AM Posted Friday at 01:03 AM Any cutting/slicing competition? Maybe my Bowie could do the job. But judging from last year, this is anyway more a matter of the skill of the guy wielding the knife than the actual steel edge...
