Dick Sexstone Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I watch this on PBS .... I think you could find it on utube also...... Roy Underhill has 30 odd years of shows to look it.... he is old school ....woodworking with hand tools and flat belt machinery.... he has lots of visiting craftsmen showing techniques.... the ones I enjoy the most of are with Peter Ross.... who was the master smith at Williamsburg for many years.... Roy lives down the road from Peter and so Peter has been on a few of his shows..... I always learn something..... some times basics that I was too foolish and not grownup enough to learn when I was starting out .....or sometimes a step that I have forgotten the reason why it's done in a specific way.....I think it is good to revisit the basics now & then..... Episode 10 from season 37 has Peter making a hinge ,a carriage bolt and old school rotisserie that works with a weight to slowly turn a chicken or roast in a kitchen fireplace .....The first pattern welding I tried was with Peter when he was teaching at Peters Valley.....Peter is a humble master.....he is the first one to give credit to the giants before us.....
Gerald Boggs Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Mr. Ross also has a number of blacksmithing dvd's Amazon and several other on-line companies carry them.
Gerald Boggs www.geraldboggs.com
