Sarosi Robert Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Hello everyone! Some years ago, i bought an old anvil. I tried to identify the maker, but couldn't succed. I'm sure it's a german made anvil from 1926 and it weights 77 kg. The logo contains two bells and two 'S' letters. I only found only a single anvil like mine on the internet, but that contains also a crown above the bells. Posted this question on a german forum, but they couldn't not help me. Maybe some of you have seen this logo and knows the name of the factory where it was produced. I attach two pictures of my anvil (ingore the stand, that was just temporary) and a link to the anvil I found on the internet. Thank you, have a great day! Alan Longmire Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Welcome! I don't know that logo, but I bet emeraldkoch@gmail.com does. He runs www.blacksmithparadise.com, I imagine you've seen his anvil collection online. 1
Pieter-Paul Derks Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I think the double s stands for Sichelschmidt und Schlasse, a maker of high quality anvils in this north german style. I just checked and their logo normally seems to be different, but many of these anvil factories changed their logo through the years, the numbers and general shape are similar to other sichelschmidt anvils. Handsome anvil, and it looks to be in great shape. There are no secrets, one just has to ask the right questions.
billyO Posted August 12 Posted August 12 That's a gorgeous anvil! One should keep in mind, we are all both the blacksmith and iron in the fire... as always peace and love billyO
