Adlai Stein
Welcome to the Scavenger KITH. We are doing this one the hard way. All materials should be scrounged reclaimed or recycled material. All the work should be done with hand tools hammers, files ,saws, etc. I will allow pin holes to be drilled with a drill press or electric drill if you have to do it that way but that's it for power tools. The knife can be made either stock removal or forging. With no power tools allowed stock removal will be a PITA. Do the best work you are capable of doing. The knife can be any style you want to make. The drawing will be held on July 15th 2007. You may join or withdraw up until the day before the drawing. Please make sure that your blade is ready to be mailed 1 week after the July 15th deadline. It’s only fair that everyone who plays gets a knife. Please email me contact information at www.macabee@wowway.com incase the person who draws your name is unable to get hold of you as the KITH will be posted on multiple forums and lists to ensure we have a decent amount of makers. Sam Salvati
WHat is this and how does it work? Adlai Stein
Sam, At the July 15th date I'll throw all the names of everyone participating into a hat and draw names. Each person gets a blade from the name drawn before him and gives one to the person drawn after him. Everyone who makes a knife gets a knife. You have to make according to the rules in the original post and ship a knife to the person whose name you drew. I'm really tired and I hope that made sense. Adlai Klatu Baratta Necktie! Brice
This sounds like a great opportunity. Count me in too please, if it isn't too late. Does design matter, or is it largely up to us? I am thinking specifically about the SITH you did last year. well, regardless, I would love to hop in here. Cheers,Brice Show me a blacksmith making a toilet, and I will show you a man forging ahead. Adlai Stein
Brice, nope the design is completely up to you. I'm planning on making a set of several blacksmith knives. I've just been having a lot of fun going back to basics. Still plenty of time to enter the drawing is July 15th. The list is growing. I think we have a good crowd here. SHARPENSTEIN
So the forging bug has me right now. This is my entry after forging and before the rough grind. The whole thing should be done by the end of the week. Hopefully by then the sheath making bug will bite, I have about four I need to do.
