Gorgeous 300 years old Damascus steel FOR SALE

Recommended Posts

The only place where this would be an acceptable ad is here:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=765

For Sale: Knifemaking Supplies & Tools

You do need a premium subscription for posting there.

Yeah, this is where I posted. Don't have a premium subscription, though.

maybe this was the reason why my totally legal post was qualified as "Spam".

They could have just deleted it instead of ruining my reputation by labeling me a spammer.

Heck, I don't know why I am posting this.

I no longer care about this case.

So you screwed up and you call people "ignorant fucks"? Your post was not legal and was therefore spam.

I'm not sure yet.... right now its cool just to study it and imagine what it took to make it back then...

I was also thinking that these don't come around too often and the opportunity to really take it apart and figure out what kind of steel was used and maybe how it was made is rare.... unfortunately I'm not a metallurgist and don't have the equipment nor the knowledge to do that.... I may send it someone "smarter" than me who would love the opportunity to really look at this and not worry about doing tests or taking it apart...

If I do that... after I would take it apart and use it for fittings etc....

Still deciding.... but it is very very cool to look at and think about what the maker was thinking when he or she made it! :D

Given the time and place almost certainly a guy, as for the thinking I believe it would be on the lines of "Please don't delaminate, stick, damn you, stick..."

Hey Craig, I am glad that you like it. Thanks for taking those 30X close-ups too.

I did more research on the barrel and I will post more info soon.

I may also come up with something even cooler than this.

Will keep it in secret for now.
